It’s always interesting to see which companies choose to file on a summer Friday afternoon, during a week when everyone’s attention was either focused on the Republican convention or summer vacation. The list of Friday filers is pretty impressive and includes Wal-Mart Stores (WMT), Gap (GPS), and Target (TGT), all of which filed their Qs on Friday afternoon. Checkfree (CKFR), Extreme Networks (EXTR) and Estee Lauder (EL) are among the companies that filed Ks late Friday. Is there anything interesting in all of this paper? Checkfree’s K, for example, is nearly twice as large as the one it filed last year. It’s too early to say. But if you own stock in any of these companies, summer vacation is officially over. Put the beach reading on the shelf, dust off those reading glasses, and start tucking into those filings!
Put away that trashy novel…
