On the Avenue…

Lots of publicly traded companies maintain apartments in Manhattan. Though shareholders typically foot the bill, they’re rarely provided details on how much it costs because even factoring in hefty Manhattan rents, the annual bill is rarely considered material. But two recent proxies filed by 2 different hotel companies provide a brief glimpse. Loews Corp. (LTR) disclosed that it provided an apartment to Chairman Preston R. Tisch, presumably at its Regency Hotel on Park Ave. and 61st, at a cost of $695,000 last year. A few blocks south, at the famed Waldorf-Astoria, the son of Hilton Hotels (HLT) Chairman Barron Hilton paid $324,000 last year to lease an apartment there.
