Help with housing….

Should a corporate executive who, say, took home over $12 million last year, still need a helping hand with housing? That’s a question best put to shareholders in McKesson (MCK) who spent $62,000 last year in what the healthcare company describes in its recent proxy as “housing assistance” for Chairman and CEO John Hammergren. Granted, housing is expensive in San Francisco, where McKesson is based. But given his total compensation last year, Hammergren doesn’t exactly qualify for Section 8. Two other McKesson executives also received “housing assistance” last year: CFO William Graber received $140,000 and senior vice president Paul Julian, whose compensation execeeded $4 million last year, received $85,000. The proxy describes this assistance as interest-free loans that were made in 2000.
