Bridging the cultural divide…

images9.jpegActivision (ATVI) filed its proxy late yesterday and the first thing that caught my eye was the long list of curiously-named perks for Brian Hodous, who joined the company as chief customer officer in November 2006. Among Hodous’ perks are something called a “mobility premium” and “cultural training” — neither of which are defined.

While it’s true that there are some cultural differences between the UK and Southern California, where Activision is based, it’s hard to imagine that the differences are that significant as to require cultural training. Especially since Hodous doesn’t appear to be a died-in-the-wool Brit, since according to the proxy, he graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Still, the cultural training might make for an interesting class. Perhaps Posh Spice, who’s recently invaded LA might be able to teach Hodous a few things about adjusting to life in SoCal.
