Another day, another brother…

July 28, 2004

With a new round of proxies coming out, it seems like this is the season for public companies to out their deals with relatives of the company’s executives and directors. Wholesome restaurant chain Bob Evans (BOBE) is just the latest one. In the proxy it filed yesterday, Bob Evans disclosed that a company owned by the brother of senior vp for restaurant operations Rinzy Nocero sold $828,000 worth of produce to the restaurant chain last year. Rinzy’s son also benefitted, according to the proxy, when a company he owned provided $72,000 worth of consulting services to help “identify restaurant managers”. It’s not clear from the filings whether Rinzy Nocero’s relatives are new to doing business with Bob Evans, but Nocero has been in the same job since 1993.
