And the winner is…

November 4, 2005

Last week, I sponsored a contest to see who could come up with the most interesting thing buried in an SEC filing. The winner, who will receive a signed copy of Financial Fine Print, lives in Ithaca, NY and teaches at Cornell. The entry was about Millennium Pharmaceuticals (MLNM), which buried in its Q filed last Friday that its HR director — not exactly a mission-critical job — would remain on the company’s payroll at full-salary, even though she would only be required to work part-time.

But since the deadline for filing third quarter Qs is actually next Wednesday, I’ve decided to reopen the contest. So here are the rules: the person who finds the most interesting thing buried in a Q filed between now and next Wednesday will receive a signed copy of my book. Send me an email with your entry and please put “contest entry” in the subject line. Winners will be announced next Friday.
