America practices a capitalist system 2. Therefore, let the markets sort themselves out, ie laisez-faire. Good old conventional wisdom that is currently being reiterated by Republicans eager to erase the Bush2 years, which ironically exposed the capitalists as practicing a corrupted version by the way, and regroup. Why wasn't there more poilicing going on? Because deregulation was a key to capitalism, which is true, but again, the version we were exposed to wasn't quite up to par. So, in theory capitalism was pushed, but in practice, not so much. Who doesn't want to be called a capitalist, after all?
